    Memories and Tributes

  • (5/28/15) Gerald was a very sincere, generous and special squadron member. He relished his navy service and contributed photos of his Gitmo detachment (see below and "VFP-62 Memorabilia"). And, he went the extra mile when he ordered a copy of "Blue Moon Over Cuba" from me and added an extra $75 to his check. He put no restrictions on how I used it. I added it to other similar donations and purchased the VFP-62 Commemorative brick at the National Naval Aviation Museum Pensacola Florida.

I first met him and his wife Connie at the 2011 VFP-62 reunion in Jacksonville Florida. They made an impression on me: Connie enjoyed sharing Gerald's bonding with squadron members; they were a lovely couple.

Gerald fought a brave battle against his cancer but was fatalistic that the odds were against him--he was not bitter in the last email I received from him. We lost a good man and I personally will miss him very much. Rest in peace Gerald. --- Ken Jack
