Memories and Tributes
- I found out that Charles E Ray who went to photo school with me and Charlie Sturm and joined VFP-62 at the same time. He was detachment officer in charge on the Saratoga in 1958 while I was on the USS Essex. He also became the squadron commander of VF-111 the Sun Downers 1963-65 flying Crusaders and was involved in the early Vietnam operations. He is mentioned at the beginning of chapter IV "Vietnam" in the book "VF11/111 Sundowners 1942-95" sending Crusader fighters to escort photo recon planes in operation Yankee Team. Again, our photo squadron attracted some great people.--Richard Maioriello
